Getting Started with CanForm: From Install to Your First Dry Run

CanForm is a Chrome extension that supports B2B contact form outreach end to end — discovering the form, generating a message, filling it in, submitting it, and recording the result. This page walks through everything from installation to your first dry run (a safe test that fills a form without submitting it). If this is your first time using CanForm, follow the steps in order.

The four steps

Getting CanForm up and running takes four steps.

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store
  2. Configure AI settings (provider, model, API key)
  3. Register your outreach details
  4. Run a dry run to confirm everything works

AI settings aren’t strictly required if you only want to manually fill forms one at a time. But if you want per-company AI message generation or AI-assisted completion of fields that rule-based matching can’t fill, you’ll need to configure AI settings.

1. Install the extension

Add CanForm from its Chrome Web Store listing. After adding it, pin CanForm from the toolbar’s puzzle-piece icon so it’s always accessible.

For details on required permissions, Manifest V3 compliance, and how API keys are protected, see the download page.

2. Configure AI settings

Open the settings page from the extension icon and go to the “AI settings” tab to configure the following.

  • Choose an AI provider — Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), or Google (Gemini).
  • Separate models for message generation and form-discovery judgment — use a lighter, cheaper model for judgment tasks and a stronger model for message generation, if you want to manage cost.
  • Register your API key — enter the API key for your chosen provider. The key is used only from the extension’s background service worker and is never passed into scripts injected on a web page.
  • Turn on AI-assisted field completion to let AI infer values for fields that rule-based matching can’t fill, such as ambiguous dropdown menus.

AI API usage is billed directly to you by the provider through your own API key. It is not included in CanForm’s price.

3. Register your outreach details

In the “Outreach details” tab, enter the information that gets filled into forms — your name, company, department, title, email, phone, address, postal code, your company’s website URL, subject line, and message body — and save it. You can also upload this information in bulk as JSON.

What you register here is the foundation for both manual fill and autonomous outreach. Save your outreach message as a template — during autonomous outreach, AI tunes it for each company automatically.

4. Confirm with a dry run first

We strongly recommend confirming behavior with a dry run (a mode that fills the form but never submits it) before doing any real sending.

Try manual fill

  1. Open a page with a contact form
  2. Click the extension icon, then click “fill”
  3. Confirm your outreach details are filled into the form correctly (nothing is submitted at this stage)

Try a dry run in autonomous outreach mode

  1. Upload a company list CSV (3 columns: company name, URL, company description — no header row, UTF-8) in the “Company list” tab. See How to build a CSV outreach list for the format.
  2. Click ”🚀 Start autonomous outreach” in the popup to open the control window in a separate tab
  3. Agree to the notice and turn on “Dry run (do not submit)”
  4. Start with a small batch of companies and confirm that form discovery, message generation, and filling all behave as expected

Once you’ve confirmed a dry run looks right, move on to real submissions.

Next steps

CanForm submits forms automatically. Selecting outreach targets, message content, and compliance with applicable laws and each site’s terms of use are your own responsibility.
